Childhood/Adolescent Pain – Chiropractc Can Help

Children that have musculoskeletal problems (NMS) suffer physically and psychologically; preventing or interrupting their abilities to participate in sports and daily activities.  The inability to keep active plays a toll a child’s overall growth, emotional and physical well being now and through-out life.  A research study was performed in Germany by interviewing children and their parents about the number of children that complain of musculoskeletal problems. [1]  The percentages of children that have a NMS complaint is may surprise you:

  • 749 children/adolescents were interviewed and 83% (622) had pain in the past 3 months
  • 30.8% of these children/adolescents stated they had pain for more than 6 months

Inactivity of children/adolescents is a big problem with their ability to flourish.  This plays an important role in contributing to muscle weakness, decreased bone strength [2], decreased oxygen, obesity, decreased immune function and diabetes. [3]  It is very important to keep our children/adolescents active, but hard to do if they are in pain and cannot do the activities to promote health.

What can be done to decrease NMS pain in your child/adolescent and even yourself? See a Chiropractor in your community.  A Chiropractor adjusts the spine and other joints that are misaligned in order to better align them in order to decrease stress on the nervous system, the joint and the muscles/ligaments surrounding.

Do not let NMS pain prevent you from maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  It is amazing how many of the parents interviewed in the Germany study that were unaware of the pain or problems that were affecting their child.  Do not suffer anymore.  Contact a Chiropractor and experience the difference it will have in you, your child’s and your community’s life!

Born Strong – Chiropractic Care Increases Inborn Strength

Born Strong

Born Strong

You were born with an inborn intelligence that controls your body’s inner workings for a lifetime.  This inborn intelligence is referred to by chiropractors as “innate (N8) intelligence”.  Innate intelligence expresses itself through our nervous system; controlling all the vital aspects of your body.  It works without you thinking about it!  Because of this inborn wisdom, you do not have to think about breathing, growing, beating your heart, healing a cut, digesting your food and the millions of other things that go on inside our magnificent bodies.

What are others saying about Innate Intelligence?

“Intelligence is present everywhere in our bodies. Our own inner-intelligence is far superior to any we can try to substitute from the outside.”

Deepak Chopra, M.D.

“God and the wisdom of the human constitute 90% of the hope of patients to recover. The body simply has super wisdom which is biased in favor of life rather than death.”

Richard Colbalt, M.D.

“…A kind of super-intelligence exists in each of us, infinitely smarter and possessed of technical know-how far beyond our present understanding.”

Lewis Thomas, M.D.

“The mind can dramatically affect the body. It follows that whatever upsets the brain’s control of the immune system will foster malignancy. I try to get patients to understand that the body heals and not the therapy.”

Bernie S. Siegel, M.D.

The nervous system is the information highway in our body and an important part of your survival.

  • So important it was developed first!
  • So important that it is protect by bones!
  • So important that you cannot function without it!
  • So important you should take care of it!

To fully understand the importance of our nervous system we must get the “BIG IDEA”.  B.J. Palmer wrote of the “BIG IDEA” in 1944.  Take the time to watch this video of the “BIG IDEA”.

So something happened and there was a break down in your bodies function and occasionally disease is a result.  This disease process did not happen over night!  What happened to causes this breakdown?  What happened to the nervous system?

SUBLUXATION!  Stress on your Nervous System!  Decreased Function!  What happened to cause this?

“by age 11, children have already been exposed to 7,000 spinal traumas” – OSHA

Interference to the nervous system only takes one fall/trauma to the spine and it does not take much.  These traumas occur everywhere and at any time.  For example the first trauma your spine endured most like occurred at birth!  These traumas may lead to ‘Vertebral Subluxations’.

How do you know if you have a ‘Subluxation’?  How are ‘Subluxations’ corrected?

  • Chiropractic Exam
  • Chiropractic Adjustment (if needed)
  • Nervous System function is restored
  • You Function Better!

Chiropractic Care is a safe way to optimize your health and get you functioning better!  Why not give your body a better chance at survival?  Why not give someone else a chance to learn more about optimizing their health?

I Can’t Go To A Chiropractor…I Have ‘Scoliosis’?

“I Have ‘Scoliosis’”…

  • and was told not to go to a Chiropractor!
  • and Chiropractic can not help my condition!
  • and was told I would have to live with this forever!

These are things that some people are saying about ‘Scoliosis’ and seeking chiropractic care.

What is ‘Scoliosis’?  It is abnormal lateral curvature(s) to the spine.

What does ‘Scoliosis’ look like?  Video

Chiropractors deal with the spinal structure and the nervous system.  If there is normal structure in the spine there is better function.  A person with scoliosis has an abnormal spinal structure/alignment and thus a decrease in normal function.  So what can chiropractic do to help ‘Scoliosis’?

Chiropractic care primarily can reduce spinal misalignment’s present thus reducing stress to the nervous system.  Correcting spinal misalignment’s will result in a increase in range of motion (ROM) to the spine.  Also, correcting spinal misalignment’s in the spine can help reduce the lateral curvature of the spine (Scoliosis).  The outcome of chiropractic care for scoliosis depends on the severity of the scoliosis and your bodies ability to change.

Chiropractic care has improved the quality of life for many individual’s with scoliosis.  The best way to determine if you can benefit is to try chiropractic out.

Below are are some links to cases of people who have had their lives changed by chiropractic care; check them out!

**Disclaimer – If you had a bad experience at one office…that does not mean it will be same at the next one.**

POP!…Crack!…What was that sound?  Did you hear that sound?  Am I going to be ok?  Often when being adjusted by a Chiropractor the patient will hear a ‘Pop’ or ‘Cracking’ sound from his/her spine.  This sound is similar in nature to the ‘Pop’ or ‘Cracking’ sound that comes from ‘cracking your knuckles’.  To better explain what is going on when this happens at the Chiropractic office take a look at this short YouTube video created by eHow.

Not Like The Movies – Chiropractic Care Is Safe & Gentle

Comments/Questions often come up of whether chiropractic care will hurt, is it safe, I saw what happened in ‘that movie’ and are you going to break me in half.  Let’s clear up these comments/questions.

Chiropractic care is never meant to hurt the person receiving the care, but to help that person overcome their reason for coming to chiropractic by correcting misalignments in the spine causing pressure on their delicate nervous system called vertebral subluxations.  However, the area that needs to be adjusted may be sore and in need of an adjustment, which will be a little discomfort to the patient.  Also, if your body is used to being one way for so long and it just happens to be ‘out of alignment’ then there may be soreness after an adjustment due to the new positions of the spine and retraining of the muscles.  This is not unlike going to the gym for the first time and you are fine for a while and then the next day you are a little sore.

Chiropractic care is safe for the whole family.  The best way to determine if a health field is safe is to look at the numbers right.  So if we look at the mal-practice insurance of a medical physicians and chiropractors.  Chiropractic mal-practice insurance is much lower than that of a medical doctor; paying approximately 500-1200 dollars per year depending on the state and the experience of the Chiropractor.  However, a medical doctor pays much more per year due to the risks associated with conditions treated at doctor’s offices and hospitals.

Chiropractic care is NOT “AS SEEN ON TV” or the ‘Movies’.  If you have seen what is referred to as chiropractic on TV or in Movies it is performed by actors and portrayed to be rougher than it really is.  If only in the directors would get highly trained Chiropractors to choreograph the chiropractic adjustment, there would be no discrepancies.  My mom always said to me, “Do not believe everything you see on TV.”  Take a look at this YouTube video clip from “Jacob’s Ladder” and see why people see chiropractic care as rough.
